How to Play CS Era Challenge

CS Era Challenge is the hardest Counter-Strike draft mode. Build one 5-player roster and try to win all six premier tournaments in a single simulated era.

How It Works

  1. Fill 5 roster slots: Anchor I, Rotator I, AWP, Rotator II, Anchor II.
  2. Each round: spin year (2015–2025) → spin team → draft one player.
  3. 1 year reroll and 1 team reroll per round.
  4. When complete, your roster is scored and run through 6 consecutive events. You must win every event to achieve the era.

The 6 Tournaments

| # | Event | | --- | --- | | 1 | IEM Katowice | | 2 | BLAST Copenhagen | | 3 | PGL Bucharest | | 4 | IEM Cologne | | 5 | Esports World Cup | | 6 | Major |

Each event uses the CS Major Run placement calculator with its own difficulty multiplier relative to a Major (1.0×). Katowice, Copenhagen, Bucharest, Cologne, and Esports World Cup are tuned individually. Small ±5 variance is applied per event.

Results

| Outcome | Requirement | | --- | --- | | Era Achieved | Win all 6/6 tournaments | | Era Failed | Any loss — the full path is still shown |

Roster Scoring (0–100)

Identical to CS Major Run:

| Factor | Effect | | --- | --- | | Year Rating | Up to 35 pts | | HLTV Top 20 | Up to 35 pts | | Team Rank | Up to 35 pts | | Major Win | +10 bonus | | Choke Factor | Up to −15 penalty | | IGL present | +5 | | No IGL | −10 |

Strategy

  • You need a roster that peaks across different LAN formats — not just one lucky Major run.
  • IGL + low choke matters more here than in a single Major simulation.
  • Draft players who were elite in overlapping years so your score stays high across all six events.
  • Use rerolls aggressively — one weak spin can doom the entire era.
  • Major winners and Top 20 placements are the safest path to consistent deep runs.
